Subject: [BMWCSRegistry] (FF) The European Language

The European Commission has just announced an agreement whereby English will
be the official language of the European Union rather than German, which was
the other possibility.

As part of the negotiations, the British Government conceded that English
spelling had some room for improvement and has accepted a 5- year phase-in
plan that would become known as "Euro-English".

The above is very reminiscent of the old Dan Akroyd SNL "LMNO" skit wherein he explains the new "decabet metric alphabet". LMN and O are combined into one letter and other letters are added and deleted making for (IIRC) a 13 letter alphabet. Actually, as I remember it, it made more sense (and was better thought out) than the above.
