[BMWCSRegistry] 507 designer dies

  I owned a 72 240 and  a 75 280. The 240 with twin SU carbs was a great 
car, except for the quilted vinyl: but easy to maintain (Mercedes 
license in-line 6) and a real sports car. The 280 was fuel injected, 
had more power, carpeted interior, and a more flexible suspension. That 
car lasted 15 years until the frame rails rusted (New Jersey is tough 
). The 240 had similar rust problems, but the sheetmetal around the 
rear wheels was as bad rust-wise as our beloved coupes....sizzle away!
