Over the years we have all laughed at the various Hans and Franz stories  
that have been shared.  Today I experienced it first hand.
 
I found a brand new, in the original boxes, BMW 2002 Headlight Washer/Wiper  
System.  While I have seen these in the period accessory catalogs, I have  
never seen a 2002 with a set installed.  So I unpack all of the parts,  using the 
parts catalog as my guide, to ensure I had everything.
 
It took me about 30 min to install the right side wiper motor and  wiper.  
All the holes were pre-drilled at the factory and the installation  was a 
breeze.  And, as you can expect from BMW - pure genius on  how this system installs 
and works.  Kudos to Hans!
 
Now for the left side - no holes!  Where was Franz that  day?  Missing was 
the 1/2" hole for the wiper motor and the 1/8" hole for  the mounting piece (no 
flames please - I know that mm is the correct  measurement).  So off to the 
hardware store to get a 1/2" metal drill  bit to finish Franz's job.  After 
uninstalling the right side to  make a template for the holes, I drilled the 
holes, installed the left side,  then reinstalled the right side.
 
So now you can add this too your list stories.
