Bavarian Auto Sport has replacement dust caps of red urethane in two sizes.? The old one is secured with a little springy-thing, that does not go back on the new.? Just pitch it with the old scragged dust cap.
I replaced one control arm but it came with a dust cap, which I did not remove, but when I've done tie rod end replacements I used the BAS boots.? Cleaning out an re-greasing ball joints would seem to be a good idea if the dust boot is tango uniform.

Subject: [BMWCSRegistry] Control Arm Bushings & Ball Joint
I purchased a pair of control arms and was going to use urethane bushings from Mesa.? Unfortunately the control arms I purchased are wider than the original so the bushings and sleeve don't fit well.? So now I am planning on using the original control arm since the ball joint looks to be in good shape.? I was thinking that it would be a good idea to re-grease the ball joint.? Has anyone ever done that and what's involved with putting a new dust cap back on?? Does it just slip on or is it much more complicated than that? Can I even find a new dust cap?
Thanks,
Lou
