Dave,
I don't know about the attachment at the roof structure but on my 
Ilse the belts and reels are bolted through the rear shelf carpet and 
rather heavy steel thence forward along the sides of the interior to 
the front seats.
Plus a heavy bolt through the floor near the doors and the latch 
between the seats.
Another good reason to pay attention to the condition of your floor 
pans - especially under the carpets.
It can be a pain to people riding in back and truly I hope I never 
have to test the belt reliability but they are "legal".
