Art,

Sorry to disagree sir, but:

     a) If trunk wings are a fashion statement [to some], then why would air
dams not fall into the same category?

    b) '...a dumbness - as about as [sic] functional as the fins of cars of
my youth' This is simply untrue; review aerodynamic fundamentals before
suggesting unfounded opinions as fact.

    c) '...fashion statement trunk wings' Although not technically wings,
the rear spoilers on E28s are well documented for providing added stability
at higher speeds (> 80 MPH, on track of course).

    d) '...why spend $350 for a piece that is useless...' Air dams have
been demonstrated to reduce the drag coefficient of virtually any
automobile; therefore, over a sufficient period of time your initial
investment will be recovered, after which time (if you don't spend too much
touching up damage from stones...) you will realize a return on your
investment. Now about those troublesome curbs.just stop your car before you
hit the 'parking barrier.'

Actually, this reply may be a bit overstated. My fundamental response is
more succinctly expressed with: Dude - I think those front spoilers look
real cool!

Cheers!

LA
