Jack stands in my book should be no less DOUBLE capacity of what your
holding up. per pair. We all know how optimistic advertisement is. I would
love to find an old threaded shaft style. Almost infinite adjustment, and
work best on slightly unlevel floors... like my old garage. While working on
the transmission of my 79 Chrysler Newport, I accidently kicked one of the 4
jackstands out from the rear of the car. I pulled my feet to my ass and
drove my knees up into the floor boards and yelled and screamed for my wife
in the house.
When she came out to the garage the convo went like this,
"Honey, listen very carefully and don't panic.
wife : "Panic for what?"
Me: "Just follow my instructions and I'll tell you when your done."
Wife: "What?"
Me: Get down on your hands and knees and put something back in place for
me."
wife: "I'm not getting down on that dirty floor!"
Me: "Dear.. If you must know.. I knocked the jackstand over, and I'm
currently holding the damn car up with my legs!! Put the damn thing under
the axle tube!!"
She did, I slid out and went behind the garage to pee. Had a few beers in
rapid sucession, and quit for the day. I ended up making a shim out of plate
steel to compensate the 1/4 inch difference.
 Live and learn... Thank God!
