How many of you-ru gurus know what an old Kennedy machinists toolbox looks
like ? sets of different sized drawers on sliders , but in general the
drawers are too small to hold sets of (metric of course ) wrenches for
working on old Bimmadubblehues (OBMWC) except for things like distributor
tools and spark plugs .
Anyway , I 'scored' an old beaten up one at the local fleamarket last sun
for $2 .......obviously been out in someones barn a while as the rust had
been heavily inlaid in some parts of the metal........but all the drawers
still had naugahyde liners intact that wiped clean easily ...and original
knobs . (Can't you see me now on Antiques Roadshow ?? ..heh !!) . After an
hour's cleanup and oiling ALL the drawers run smooth as silk .........behind
the rattle-can silver paint job the PO had done on it .It aint purty but it
all works ........
It looks exactly like the model 520 7 drawer on here
http://www.general-tool.com/kennedy.html
BUT , it is missing the front cover .......that basically blank piece of
bent metal used to lock all the drawers closed for the night . The front
cover is about 19" long by 8 1/2 " wide, located at the top by two pins in
its upper edge when the top section is closed .
So , if any wun has an inkling of where I might find one ..........pls
advise . Remember my motto "Cheap CAN be good " ......
Anything out in your barn ??
