Glad you showed the flag, Paul.
Of course no "B" pillar and lots and lots of glass. I also love
driving my 1995 E36 M3 Coupe (with a "B" pillar) but it makes me feel
very closed in by the door sills and high sloping dash on which you
cannot place or store hardly anything - unlike a Coupe. That Coupe
shelf was a brilliant piece of design and especially since it has
some real real wood, unlike the phony looking shiny plastic they
stick on BMW's and others. I refused a decent deal for an in stock on
my M3 back in 1995 in favor of waiting for one with all black leather
or is it vinyl?
Also the Coupe shelf does provide a fairly solid place for a
passenger to hold on if the driver is getting frisky in the twisties
Do also caution to NEVER use the door handle as a hand hold and to be
gentle when using it to close the door. it can pull out of its screw
anchors.
Best way is to use the window sill when the glass is down.
Wipe hands cleans to avoid finger prints appreciated. :-)
My contribution to your list of great Coupes that lack a "B" pillar:
Studebaker Golden Hawk.
And a little surprise most have never heard of: 1954 Willys Aero Eagle.
