You could probably find someone who knows if this will work at the E36 forum
on HYPERLINK "http://www.roadfly.com"www.roadfly.com . I don't know.

Subject: RE: [BMWCSRegistry] Seat compatibility question
James, Bill and you other experts:
Two weeks ago I picked up a 1996 318i convertible that is in great
condition. I would like to do one update which is to switch out the top
half of the back seat for the 318 or 323 back seat with the rear head rest
to improve the looks/safety. Can this be a one-for-ones-switch with out any
other mods to make the 318 or 323 seat fit?
A couple of months ago one of you made comments on how great this car
performs, so I decided to check out a couple of them and was hooked.
Originally I was looking for a Mini S convertible but could not find the
right color combinations. This is great car in 1-4 gears around town in the
Last Colony traffic and even better on cruise in 5 gear on the freeway.
The gas mileage is out of site.
If so, I am looking for a tan top back seat with head rests in good
condition. Contact me off line.
Thanks - The-Hound

I've seen the e30 sport seats (best looking and most supportive I've found
of that vintage) mounted into '02's before, so the modification for that
swap is probably pretty common, and similar to the e9's. They came in
multiple colors, vinyl cloth or leather, with horizontal line pattern for
the M3's and convertibles (which also have a shorter lever for the backrest
to clear the seatbelt in the cabrio's) or vertical like in the "is" models.
They have multiple adjustments, including thigh bolster and grip you like a
glove. My wife has a e30 325is and I love her seats. They appear on ebay
all the time, but clean leather seats are getting harder to find as they are
usually neglected (it's an e30 after all) and 15+ years old now. If you
find a ratty set on the cheap, the dealership can get the foam bolster kits
new, and World Upholstery has pre-cut fabric/leather/vinyl sets (last I
checked).
