Steve,
I would steel brush or sand/bead blast clean any corrosion off and
remove all old factory rust proofing which has resulted in more rust
than it stopped.
Then spray it with rust prevention stuff from Eastwood. After it
dries, paint with black - either regular Krylon Satin Black or
suggested chassis black from Eastwood.

Steve,
Thanks for your good wishes. It seems I have survived Round Two with the Big C.
No luck with the badges. The outfit up near the NY/PA line couldn't do it.
I know of no other source for now but perhaps somebody else does.
