[BMWCSRegistry] An ADDITIONAL esoteric question for the Cognisenti

Getrag 265's also came in 82 528e but you have to change the bell housing
to one from a big six. For the US market, look for one from a 80-82 in a
E12, E28 (82 only), E23 & E24 and 85 E23/24/28 (535i). Remember that these
gearboxes are now over 25 years old and have a lot of miles on them. I went
through three in three years in my 73 E3. First one sounded like a cement
mixer. Ireland Engineering gave me $300 in parts credit. Second one got
stuck in reverse (internal failure) at Bill Holmes shop in San Diego (how
convenient). Mesa Performance came through for more in parts credit and the
third one worked like a charm. Then I decided to sell the Bavaria while it
was working well.
