Hi Pete,
Does not look like a great morning in the Midwest. TWC shows much
snow on the west end and potential tornado activity in the middle.
Get ready to take proper cover.
Interesting about your vinyl top. Having seen only 1 or 2 on Coupes
(and I ask why?), I would guess yours was a dealer specific option
and not from the factory.
Most vinyl tops I have seen on decades old cars seem to gave gotten
pretty ratty. If yours is in good shape you or a PO must have tended
it to it properly and/or kept it garaged.
I can't follow how it might have added strength or protected it from
rust up there,. A good quality wax would so the same and more. Water
can creep under the vinyl and accelerate rust.
I still await more information on Nitrogen in tires as I do wait to
hear from other than the Senators from Iowa/Kansas/Nebraska about how
wonderful corn Ethanol is.
Mexicans may have to give up tortillas for a while and we all should
watch for beef and pork futures to rocket.
