Agreed -

I have a policy with Haggerty as well... and yes, they have some serious
fine print. When I discussed it with the agent over the phone call, they
even basically said that I cannot:
Drive it to work
Drive it to the grocery store
Drive it anywhere that has some sort of purpose OTHER than just driving.
In other words, don't park it anywhere but home or at a show.

They said in an indirect way - drive the car to shows, and drive it for
pleasure within (?) miles of your home... and park it the rest of the time.
I am pretty sure they said that any school or autocross wasn't allowed.
Unfortunately, insurance companies seem to have the upper hand; however,
having worked in litigation consulting for 15 years - everything is open
for interpretation. Gotta love the American way.

To Art,
Time to come out of hibernation. Right after this current winter
blast/last gasp? of National Weather Service advisories. And then I will
launch my long anicipated Spring Offensive. Remember our Autumn discussions
of a CS Registry badge? You thought you knew someone your way who would
manufacture them if there was enough demand. So for those of you still
reading, let's bombard Art with flattering, pleading, grovelling, emails
signing over our first born children if he will pursue the project.

What do you think, Art?

About Insurance, I have been talking to a guy in the DC area who
autocrosses his coupe. He just got notice from Hagerty, I believe,
forbidding anything remotely resembling that kind of activity. Including,
it seems, Driver's Schools.

I went immediately to my State Farm policy(agreed value, etc) and saw
essentially the same thing Except, they allow Driver's Schools.

Good idea to check the fine print. I have heard of policies that won't even
allow the owner to park their car in front of a restaurant where it is
visible. And spending the night in a dimly lit Motel 6 parking lot is
mortal sin.

Let the emails flow,

Steve ONeill
74CSi (yes, it goes to driver's schools -a hoot)
