Paul,
Your offer to guide this project is much
appreciated. I would, however, first like to see
what my local guy can do if and when Spring comes
to NW PA.
The badges should be as close as possible to the ones out there now.
Blue and white cloisonné , 6 X 7.5 cm with the
same shape and pattern as our logo on the web
page.
I'll try to get a decent photo with my digital camera.
As soon as I can get some information about
production and price we will see the best way to
go and begin asking for commitments.
As for picking up your dues for life - that
depends on how long you anticipate living.

>Here it is in a nutshell; the cloisonné style badges are the best. Usually
>three to four inches in diameter, either brass or aluminum base with flowed
>enamel (or acrylic) colors baked on top.
>These were traditionally called 'grill badges' or 'bumper bar badges', and
>mount with backing screws or post type standoffs. Most suppliers of badges
>provide mounting hardware with each badge.
>
>You first have to come up with a design so the suppliers know how many
>colors and what kind of complexity they are dealing with.
>You send them the art, they send back a quote and time table.
>
>There are about five or six reputable suppliers here in the US.
>Nearly all of them farm the work out to one of two places on the Pacific
>Rim. You just pay different prices for them handling the paper to get it
>done. [gross generalization, but effectively accurate description]
>
>I found the cheapest, best way to get the badges done was through a 'goodie
>store' associated with the International club of the specific car these were
>intended for. It was a good balance of quality, price, and delivery.
>I'd use them again- and would for this project (if it comes to fruition.)
>
>Bottom line; minimum order is fifty pieces. Price is dependent upon colors
>and complexity (as mentioned above); but expect about $40.00 each, landed at
>your door (anywhere in the World).
>This figure would leave some money in the till for the 'club'.
>*We funded our venture with pre-order sales and some money out of the club
>treasury. Sold through the entire order in short order, and now they're
>getting ready to place a second order for 50 units.
>
>Hope this is helpful in illuminating the subject for everyone.
