  Couperini y Bavarazzi

One of the first messages I read Thursday morning was this posted Price Guide to older BMW's.
I decided to set back and see how the day's comments, both private and public, swirled about this item.
As expected they ranged from mild amusement to furious anger.

I assume that the unlabeled Column #2 represents the number of units produced. Maybe - but consult 5 sources of this data and you will likely get 6 different numbers. The vaunted Deutsche penchant for accurate record keeping became a little sloppy after 1945.

First among my various reactions, and those of others, is that E9 Coupes are NOT items for investment.
That is hardly a piece of news to anyone who owns and loves these cars.

Note that no Model 120 2000 C/CS nor any E9 CSi's were listed by this evaluation expert or perhaps just an accumulator of data from selected sources not cited, or whatever he is.
Agreed that the 2000 C/CS is far less common but CSi's are in some modest abundance - for a 30+ year old car. So where are they?

Our Coupes are for driving and not museum pieces or for speculation to appreciate unless you place it in a Nitrogen filled balloon for 20 or more years. And have patience (as our President just said in another context).

Instead of expecting to make some money on a CS Coupe investment one would be better advised to go down to your neighborhood Casino and hit the slots. To protect our morality, all of us in PA are allowed are only slots. No craps, no roulette (plaisez vos bets mesdames et messiuers), no poker, no black jack, no chemin de fer. 2000 exciting slots just 30 minutes from me. Woopee!
You will never see Sean Connery and his predictable bed mate for the evening in one of our sanitized family value places.

The 507? A lovely antique to be treasured. Probably worth more than the values listed but at that would you dare run it out on the road? Great for Homecoming and other Parades with the Campus Queen denting your fragile upholstery with her pretty butt and a 507 is sure to snatch a prize at any show to which it has been hauled on a trailer (enclosed, of course).
In truth, I've never driven one but by all reports, they drive like the 1950's cars they are.
Only those old enough to have driven 1950's cars know what I mean.

And make special note about when was there a 1600 Coupe or 2002 Coupe as listed by our expert evaluator?

Have fun with this but do not take it too seriously. Spring is coming soon just drive carefully and be sure you have agreed value in force.
I have no clue about what Chuck Cote was talking about earlier concerning insurance and I would not have attended that lunch unless the proper wine was served anyway.

And note to E3 people. Bad news = don't sell. Good news = If you do like driving these, as I do, then buy. (The way they drive, not the way they look - but that got me in trouble before).
The omens are in your favor. Not much of a troller but a great stealth car on the highway.
