Carlos,

I think they changed the vents because they could change them and
design departments always need to show how on top of things they are
with a new squiggle in the chrome trim or door handle modification. *
Especially in these perilous days of car sales.

How else can every car company on Earth almost always advertise
their latest model as "all new"?
I've yet to see a TV ad this year that didn't claim "all new". It's
rather a weasel statement anyway, "all new" what?
It's analogous to the constantly repeated "Ditech.com" quick and easy
loan and those insurance outfits providing quick and easy coverage
for your car but the teeny tiny print doesn't stay on the screen long
enough to read.
And while ranting about such things, I wonder what a "well qualified
buyer" might be to obtain one of those 1.9% (never 2%) car loans.

Perhaps a fresh new approach might be to simply say,
"some new and improved features for 2007". Except in some cases the
improved part is a damned lie.

For BMW, getting rid of that awful iDrive thing would be an improvement.
Squooshing the grill down more and more will eventually get them back
to the 507 - but still with Chris Bangle's lovely body.
