The car sputtered to a stop.
Attempted restarts got less and less effective; run for a moment, then die,
then just cranking, no fuel (obviously).

I'm going to do the tests recommended by my fellow tin worm club members-
and report back.
Please standby.

FWIW- I wasn't upset about the condition.
On the contrary. There was inconvenience (and expense - $50 for the tow),
but it's still a beautiful car.
Even stuck on the side of the road with the hood up- it's better looking
than most everything else out there!
