[BMWCSRegistry] Wind Noise

The car is over 30 years old - isn't the whistle of the wind part of the
'experience'?

Goes hand in hand with the slow electric windows, non-retractable seat belts
(although I know some do have them), sluggish 3 speed autos etc etc.

But ...... I could be wrong.

David.

Subject: [BMWCSRegistry] Wind Noise

John,
I had a mild wind noise and whistle coming from the vicinity of a vent /wing
window. I found it to be due to a less than good contact between the door
frame above the vents and the main car body which was letting air in.
At my local hardware store (which has so far survived being demolished by
our WallyMart juggernaut)
I bought a roll of 3/4 inch wide, weather proofing foam with a very sticky
side. I laid a a strip over the wing window rubber and voila! no more air
leak or sound. It looks a little odd but not seen unless the door is open.

Thanks to everyone for both your witty and informative responses to my
mirror dilemma. I have decided to no longer consider fender mirrors but will
have to move the existing ones forward to the front of the vent windows.
Speaking of vent windows does anyone know any tricks to decrease the wind
noise? The rubber sealing my windows looks fine, so I am not sure what more
can be done.

Oh yeah, I do have yet another esthetics question. I am thinking of
purchasing wheel trim from Walloth and Nesch because I will be rolling the
fenders since I hope to use 205/50VR16 in the front and 225/50VR16 in the
back on the 7.5x16 (their offset is 20, will I need spacers?) OEM set of
wheels that came with my e28 M5. They offer the wheel trim in polished
Stainless Steel or Chromed Brass. Which is better looking or most closely
matches the anodized aluminum trim?

Thanks again,

John
