[BMWCSRegistry] ignition switch

May be only that the electrical part of the ignition switch has slipped.? This has been covered before: the tiny setscrew on the switch barrel gets loose, the electrical switch slightly disengages from the lock cylinder... no start.

The setscrew is maybe 1.5 mm wide, and may be hidden under a blot of paint.? IIRC it's on the 6 or 7 o'clock position of the switch barrel, looking at the barrel as a key would.? Remove the trim under the column (4 screws) and have a look (guess you're already there to have rigged a remote start).? Loosen the setscrew, pPush the electric portion of the switch toward the lock cylider and snug up the tiny screw.? Or, pull out the electrical portion and operate it without a key as a test.

Subject: [BMWCSRegistry] ignition switch

The start function in my 74 3.0 CS quit...I turn the key and nothing happens except the idiot lights go on. I need a new switch, right? Or can I fix it myself? Meantime I have rigged up a remote starter switch so I can still drive her while I get the switch repaired/replaced. Thanks Gruppe!?
