While some may be enjoying the Japanese gift to us of Cherry Blossoms 
but who sweeps up all the  trash when they are done?  The Potomac River wind from VA sweeps them into the water drainage system and they get washed away during a rain which is that season here now.
Do they ever produce any cherries?  No. 
Is not so, what was the point? It is a party, money maker, tourist attraction/spring break event and a pretty site - Google the website to see for your self.  The trees are all over the city, some people have planted them in their yards, government, colleges and some business sites also.
Maybe  \daffodils and crocus will poke up here next week. They make 
no fruit but do not leave a mess.  We have these all over the city since we have not gotten but a couple of traces of show so far.
And bus loads of tourists don't come and bother me.  For us you can take all the buses you would like because of our existing streets, our city size (only 10 miles wide), they are none green and to wide for our streets.
Got to watch for the asparagus to pop soon.  Now that has be like watching baseball game....no action.......I rather drive my COUPE to: Georgetown or Old Town, up 270, 95 N or 50E.

Still camped out in the warmest room of my house for now.
