Good for you! Most likely they towed it away and were going to break into it
once they left it for a while and were sure it wasn't being monitored by
lojac, etc.
You should probably be careful from now on though....

Subject: [BMWCSRegistry] THEY FOUND IT!!
So...they friggin found my M5!!! In less than 24 hours my M5 was found in an
abandoned parking lot about 3 miles from my home (thank you ot Baltimore
County Police for that one). The owner of the apartment building next door
called the police around 5pm to report a suspicious vehicle sitting in the
lot all day. The cops came, ran the tags, and tried to call me on my
disconnected home phone. Since they couldn't reach me, they towed it to a
secured lot. The officer that called me tonight at 9:30 on my cell asked if
I had left the keys in the ignition since there was no damage to the locks,
the car was locked, the stereo was untouched, my Bach Cantatas CD was still
in the center console, umbrella still on the floor of the passenger side..in
essence, they never got into it!! She said it looked perfect with no body
damage whatsover.
So, I'm taking the day off work tomorrow, will be at the tow yard first
thing (and go over the car with a fine toothed comb), and immediatly drive
it to my mechanic's to put on the lift to check out the undercarriage.
Right after that, I am cleaning out my garage (still cluttered from when my
coupe inhabited it which was a much smaller car then the M5), calling Sears
about installing an auto garage door (the manual door I have is a pain in
the ass) and getting that thing off the street asap!!
Thank you all for the overwhelming support. It was theraputic to have
friends like you to hear me cry and respond with your kind words. I'm not
exhaling yet as I haven't seen or driven it, but the fact that my Bach CD
was still in the center console (know any car thieves that dig on
Cantatas??) tells me that they never got their grubby hands into my car.
