[BMWCSRegistry] Wheels, wheels, wheels

Just to clarify for me. The 30mm offset you are referring to - Are you
talking about 30mm wheel spacers?

What spacers are required to accommodate normal wheels from a latter chassis
such as E12 and E28 chassis?

Cheers

David.

I'm pretty sure they are 30mm offset. Yes, it is very tight in the front.
The rims are from the late 80's, manufactured by BBS and are 3 piece. I got
them from an e30 M3 that I purchased and I swapped some beat up original
rims for these light weight beauties. The only thing I don't like about
them is the gold color. I'll eventually get them refinished to either black
with a polished rim or the color of the car with a polished rim. But
that'll come after the restoration and the saving up of a lot of cash.

30mm is plenty of clearance for the top of your head -- an inch is as good
as a mile, right? But, an 8" wheel with a 30mm offset is not likely to fit
the front of an e9, the struts are too close. You could probably get away
with a 20mm offset.

 I've been running 16x8 with 225/35 and I haven't rolled my fender lips. I
think my offset is 30mm off the top of my head. The only issue I have had
is under hard cornering, the inner part of the tire might rub just a
fraction against the strut. Not enough for me to get worried about.

 Steve:

I have lots of wheels. I'll have to verify diameter when I get back in
town late this week, but there are three styles. One set is newly blasted
and painted Alpina look-a-likes. Another is the bottle-cap wheel, original
condition and pretty nice (currently with very nice Michelin Pilot Sports)
and the third set (actually two sets, I think) are the BMW mag wheel style.
They are original and decent, although I doubt there are four perfect ones.
None are seriously damaged, just typical used wheels.

Let me know if any of these interests you and I'll check to see if any are
15"
diameters. I know none are 16s.

 Dave
