Have any of you'se weenies ever had a small qty of furniture moved within
the US ?
We just bought a couple of fragile pieces at an auction near Columbus in
Ohio and are appaled /astounded at the projected costs of shipping to middle
Tennessee south of Nashville (Nose-singing capital of the World ) .It's
estimated to cost almost more to ship than to buy !!
Yeh, we could take our truck/covered trailer and drive up and back (1,000
miles ) but we're in midst of building my new shop plus converting a two-car
garage to a dining room (my dark blue middle finger nail is current evidence
of abuse typical of such projects ) so at the moment time does NOT permit ..
So ......any good recommendations for small-qty moving companies ? Big
movers have a set minimum qty/weight , Freight companies want it only in
padded crates ....We NEED a small qty interstate furniture mover .
Anyone driving south (I 65 ) with an empty covered trailer in next coupla
weeks could use some gas-assist $$ for a short side-trip ? .We could meet up
in Nashville /Louisville/Memphoids or Huntsville/Birmingham/Atlanta area to
effect transfer with notice ..
Shipping via suborbital cruise missile has been ruled out due to inaccuracy
of parachute landing, dont have convenient relatives headed this way , no
Army National Guard buddies moving tanks this way . So we feel stymied !!
The ONLY thing that's fixed these days is our retirement income and where we
want this furniture delivered !

Feeling the pinch in Tenn

Bill P (with VERY sore finger !)
